decide how to deal with your anxiety monsters

let them drain your time and energy as you avoid confronting a task, or push through your anxiety and tackle the task directly

NOTE: feel free to talk to the character with the hat for various motivational speeches and random nonsense

I found this game from a literature while I'm researching for my dissertation project related to game and mental health. This game is so simple but yet very powerful in eliciting feelings, thoughts, and experience related to anxiety. I just played it in 2min but I kind of want to cry TAT.

Oh my goodness, I had no idea that this game had been referenced anywhere, thank you for bringing this to my attention! I just looked into it and found the literature. That's very cool.

I would be very interested in hearing more about your dissertation project and hearing how it goes, if you'd like to share anything about it. :) Best of luck with it!

I'm so glad you found the game meaningful!! If it helps at all, one of the characters in the game can provide a bit of light relief with silly dialogue if you talk to them over and over again.

I hope you're okay though! I originally made this game to try to help myself cope with my anxious avoidance, which is something I still struggle with. Originally I was going to try making it in Unreal Engine, which I was dabbling with at the time, then I decided that would take too long and be a form of avoidance in itself and so I made the game in Bitsy instead to get it completed as quickly as possible. I'm glad I went with Bitsy for efficiency, I think the simplicity worked well for this game!

But yeah, you found the experience meaningful then? Thank you for reaching out!! It means a lot. I gave you a follow in case you're gonna be sticking around or doing anything else on here :) Again, best of luck with your dissertation!
